TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

Rate: $2000 Stipend

ROLE & DUTIES

  • Determine technical supports for sound, lighting, staging, and other technical needs
  • Proficiency in all theatrical technical systems
  • Oversee execution of scenic, sound, lighting, special effects
  • Assist designers with production-related tech; ensure designs meet budgeting requirements and facility limitations
  • Lead and perform set construction (stipend for construction support available)
  • Participate in production meetings, attend all technical and dress rehearsals, take notes and address needs as required
  • Ensure safety of production crew, artists and volunteers
  • Coordinate strike in collaboration with the Production Manager
  • Ensure theatre returns to “zero”

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre or a minimum of three years experience of managing technical theatre elements
  • Effective and collaborative communication with volunteers, coworkers and rental space owners is essential
  • Ability to work both autonomously and closely with a collaborative team is required

STAGE HAND / DECK CREW

Rate: $350 Stipend

ROLE & DUTIES

  • Load and unload props and materials
  • Assist in assembly and disassembly of set
  • Set up lighting, props, and microphones
  • Construct and paint set pieces
  • Ensure props are present at beginning of scene and taken away at end
  • Move and rearrange furniture
  • Open and close curtains for scene transitions
  • Clean up stage and backstage area after performance

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills a must
  • Work well under pressure
  • Maintain professional demeanor at all times
  • Strong portfolio of previous related work and recent references required

DRAPER / CUTTER / STITCHER

Rate: $19/hr

ROLE & DUTIES

  • Responsible for making patterns, cutting, fitting and construction of costumes from specific designs or sketches supplied by the designer
  • Help during fittings with pinning and alterations, shop for supplies and last minute items

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Excellent communication skills a must
  • Strong portfolio of previous related work and recent references required

SOUND ENGINEER

Stipend: $TBD

ROLE & DUTIES

  • Mix live sound and prerecorded sounds during performance
  • Functional knowledge of current tech, systems, mics and how to create the appropriate soundscape in a space
  • Liaison with the creative team to provide feedback on band placement, speaker orientation and risk mitigation for the inevitable mic-goes-crazy event

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Familiarity with setting up and maintaining mics and radios
  • Score reading a plus
  • Strong portfolio of previous related work and recent references required
